What is stretching and why should you do it?
Stretching is a way to lengthen muscle fibers and keep them supple and flexible! Passive and active stretching are ways to increase flexibility. By stretching you increase range of motion and reduce tension on joints, tendons and connective tissue. Free range of motion means more power, better coordination and less injuries. The results of massage therapy can be enhanced by stretching on a regular basis. With stretching a neuro-muscular function called proprioception is enhanced, which allows more fluid and synchronized motion.
Any horse can learn to do these stretches safely and effectively.
Complementary Activities
Your horse will gain more benefit if done on a daily basis. You can learn to stretch your own horse with our instructional manual and clinics or workshops.
